This iris first bloomed for me in 2017. I got it from the CBRIS picnic auction in 2016. I was going through a brief period of madness when I bought a huge number of irises, and for some reason or other (partly due to plant names, partly due to color patterns, partly wanting to more fully explore the bearded irises) I decided to add some SDBs to the garden. This was the only SDB iris that actually made it to bloom, and while it is a small charming thing, the problem is that it is small. Even if I could find a spot for it in the garden, I suspect that it would be (figuratively speaking) swallowed up by everything else around it (if not actually literally swallowed up by the gophers). However, as a one-gallon potted specimen, it looked very nice inside a ceramic planter, atop the small patio side table. That, I fear, is its destiny... to live on in one gallon pots. But its descendants (either children or progeny thereof) may have a future in the garden itself, depending in part on if they rebloom. (It is still too early to see if 'Blue Oasis' itself will rebloom in my garden, although it should.) I crossed it with pollen from the TB 'Glacier Point'; we shall see what results in two (or a few) years.
