VIOLET SHIMMER x TANZANIAN TANGERINE

This iris first bloomed for me in 2017.

I purchased it partly because I thought it looked interesting, and partly because it supposedly had a high bud count (14 was cited in the nursery description).

The high bud count did not appear (maybe because it was grown in a one gallon pot?), but I have to say that I am in love with the flower face. I would not have thought that brown, yellow/"old gold", and lilac/lavender/pewter would be colors that would go together well, but there it is. There's a lot going on in this bloom, and all of it is pretty.

A pod was set on it with pollen from 'Mulberry Memories'. (This is one iris that I would like to see rebloom!)

('Hidden Gem' is currently in a pot. It should be planted out somewhere in the Near 40, close to the house, and where I can enjoy the bloom up close and personal. North ginkgo bed? South ginkgo bed?)
